Standard United States Railroad Administration design by the nationalized rail system of the United States during World War I

2-8-2 wheel configuration was called a Mikado until the start of WWII then renamed MacArther

After the war the common name for this wheel configuration returned to Mikado, over 9,500 built

Most common modern freight engine

Sole surviving C&IM Steam locomotive

Built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1928

Undergoing restoration

Donated to MOT in 1955 by the Chicago & Midland Railroad
