#1015 Chicago & North Western


 

The C & NW #1015 is a Class D 4-4-2 built by the Schenectady Locomotive Works Company in 1900.

Weight: 101 tons (engine and tender). Cylinders: 20” diameter X 26” stroke.

This is the orginal locomotive assigned to the "Overland Limited" which had nine wooden coaches (400 tons) at 70-80 miles per hour. Last used in Chicago suurban service in 1946

Built in 1900 by American Locomotive Company (ALCO)

AAR 4-4-2 Atlantic type

Atlantic type with 81″ drive wheels

This is the first locomotive received by the museum, gift of Dr. John Russell Smith in 1948
