Thursday Aug 2 2018 KC 1533 Jacked and blocked the A end of the car to a level with the main car body. Most of the steel channels on the A end are rusted thrugh and the A end of the car has dropped down. Removed and tagged the A end people catcher long rod so the couple bar can be jacked and blocked. The bar was in the way. The clevis end was not attached and the outside A end was attached to what was left of the people catcher. The clevis end goes to the middle of the car. Noted that the brake shoes are not attached to the brake beams. Swept car. Bob removed and tagged some loose sheet metal from the A end that was held up with a cord. This was a sheet metal patch add-on that was coming off the A end of the car. Inspected the A end wood work. Removed the interior three sheet metal plated covering the end of the car. The A end of the car is one and a half inch to three inches off the floor. The "hook" that held the end post to the car had a 2x2 piece of sheet metal under it. Sheet metal shows sighs of once being screwed into the floor. Removed the chain that held up the A end of the car from the railroad rail. Rail is now not supporting the car end to end
